Social, mobile and grocery commerce are among the main drivers of growth in digital retail, according to a study from research firm Comscore.
The company reported that digital commerce sales surpassed a major threshold in 2022, reaching $1 trillion for the first time in history. This represented a 21% increase in spend year-over-year, from $904.3 billion in 2021, and was also a major spike on the $705.4 billion recorded in 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic encouraged a major shift towards online retail.
