Is technology killing the 'human in marketing'?

Our world is digital. This is an inescapable fact. However, the ubiquity of smartphones, tablets and instant internet access in society has not necessarily benefited marketing, no less humanity. Since digital has become such an inextricable part of modern life, with our 'always-on' culture, we are constantly and mercilessly ambushed by valueless digital and social advertising.
