This is the case history of a campaign launched in October 1998, which:

  • built on public awareness of folic acid,
  • increased knowledge of the benefits of taking folic acid,
  • addressed the confusion surrounding the fact that folic acid should be taken by women before becoming pregnant and up until the 12th week of pregnancy, and
  • encouraged a positive attitude to taking it....
