Founded in 1927 by Joseph M. Haggar, Sr., a Lebanese immigrant, the Haggar Apparel Company produced men's dress pants using assembly-line methods to keep the prices of its products reasonable. The Haggar company also was the first to use remnants of suit materials to produce a new kind of dress pants that were called slacks.
