In November 1990 viewers watching prime-time television were treated to the first episode in the soon-to-be-famous Taster's Choice "Soap Opera Couple" campaign. During the 45-second installment they met Sharon and Tony for the first time when Sharon rang Tony's doorbell to ask to borrow coffee for a party.
