General Foods Corporation recognized a unique marketing opportunity when its Tang Instant Breakfast Drink was included in a select group of foods for astronauts on the first U.S. space flights. One magazine ad that ran in 1971 featured an artist's rendition of an astronaut driving a vehicle across the gray craters of the Moon. The swirling white clouds and blue oceans of Earth stood out prominently against stars and a glowing nebula in the black sky above. The headline read, "This morning, he will drink Tang."
