For Hellmann’s, Thursday night is ‘fridge night’

Hellman’s, the Unilever-owned mayonnaise brand, having defined its purpose as fighting against food waste, is taking the battle into new areas.

At the start of 2022, Unilever was accused by one of its shareholders of having “lost the plot”. He was in particular referring to Hellmann’s defining its purpose as being to fight against food waste.

Whatever one thinks about the purpose debate, it’s unarguable that a significant amount of food goes to waste – more than four million potatoes every day in the UK alone, for example – and that a big chunk of that waste is taking place in the home (70% on some estimates).
