“Pretty much every company nowadays claims they are in the business of storytelling,” Mark Thompson, chief executive of The New York Times Co., reminded delegates at CES 2019.
“But in the case of the New York Times, it's actually true. The Times exists to tell stories – to tell the stories the world wants and needs to hear.”
While paper and ink was once the sole medium for distributing all the news that is fit to print, this information now is also conveyed using any number of innovative channels, from infographics and mobile apps to podcasts. “Today, we try and use every new digital advance, every new display, new device [and] new piece of functionality to bring our stories to life,” Thompson said.
