AT&T knows that 5G cellular connectivity will transform many industries over the next few years by enabling real-time interactions between digital devices.
The technology is still raw at present, having been introduced in several test markets across the United States. While most brand custodians are preparing for this coming technological wave of innovation and engagement, AT&T has a diverse set of factors to consider, as it is simultaneously a giant telecoms provider, a major retailer, and a significant player in the media industry following its acquisition of Time Warner in 2018.
John Donovan, CEO of AT&T Communications, is bullish about 5G’s transformative impact, as shown by the brand’s tests of this technology in urban hubs like Atlanta, Dallas and Oklahoma City. More controversial has been its decision to unveil 5GE (or “Evolution”) networks in 100 markets nationwide.
