Crate&Barrel, the homeware retailer, successfully used podcast advertising as a means of promoting its wedding registry service.

Crate&Barrel, the homewares retailer, knows that betrothed couples are likely to be in the market for plush new sofas, sparkling cookware, and fresh bath towels.

The Northbrook, Illinois-based chain’s wedding registry thus provides customers with an opportunity to pull together a pre-nuptial list of prospective gifts to mark their big day – and, in turn, make sure they do not receive unwanted goods, duplicate items, and so on.

Such services are hardly new. But, in a competitive market, Crate&Barrel has found a way to distinguish its matrimonial offering through an audio partnership that involves two previous contestants on ABC’s long-running...
