"President Barack Obama rewrote the book on how to brand," according to Professor Americus Reed II of the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania during a 2009 New York Advertising Week panel discussion.

"Most people who present themselves as brands," such as Tiger Woods or David Beckham, "appeal to niche groups," the professor explained.  "Obama did the opposite. He made mass marketing applicable to niches....
