AN INTRODUCTION TO THE PAUL LAZARSFELD-SOCIETY
The Austrian 'Paul Lazarsfeld-Gesellschaft fr Sozialforschung (=PLG)' is a social science research institute promoting the ideas of Paul Felix Lazarsfeld, one of the fathers of modern empirical social science in the city where he was born, Vienna. The PLG is an independent non-profit research institute chartered under Austrian law. It's board consists of representatives of universities, of Austrian survey research institutes and of supporting institutions, e.g. ministries and regional government agencies. Prof. Seymour Martin Lipset (GEORGE MASON UNIVERSITY, FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA, USA) is president of the PLG, members of the board are Dr. Heinz Kienzl (SWS), Prof. Dr. Rudolf Bretschneider (FESSEL&GfK), Prof. Ernst Gehmacher (IFES), Karl Blecha (MITROPA) et al.. Prof. Richard Rose, director of the Centre for the Study of Public Policy at the University of Strathclyde, serves as an international scientific consultant of the PLG.
