Introduction: The state of the fashion industry and the need for AI enable fast fashion
India's internet landscape
India has a very interesting internet landscape. Out of the 1.2 Bn Indian population, as per the IMRB Icube report and triangulated with various other sources, only 450 Mn have ever accessed the internet, with 310 Mn from this set forming the monthly active base. Of this, about 200 Mn have ever transacted online, which, to give a perspective, is as large as the population of Brazil. These consumers are faced with an explosion of choice with over 300 companies vying for their attention. Given this scenario, it is not surprising that only 50% consumers go for a repeat transaction with any particular platform owing to lack of differentiation and a compelling reason to repeat.
