Hard times.
As 2001 drew to a close, the British Tourism industry faced tough times. Visitor numbers, already reduced as a result of the foot and mouth crisis, plunged even lower in the wake of September 11th.
Despite its thriving business districts, Edinburgh remains very much dependent on tourism. As fewer and fewer people visited the capital, more and more businesses felt the pinch. Therefore it was essential that Edinburgh & Lothians Tourist Board (ELTB) addressed this issue quickly and effectively.
