Dream11: Hijacking the cricket world cup highlights

Dream11, an Indian fantasy sports platform, gained awareness and app installations by targeting cricket fans with ‘Dream11 Hijacking the Cricket World Cup' where the app was portrayed as a sponsor of the world cup on YouTube.

The communication goal

In 2019, Dreamll a Fantasy Gaming app brand was in a very nascent stage in India. And same was the case with the category. The App extended the ongoing sporting events like Cricket in the digital space; giving fans an opportunity to turn from viewers to players. Cricket was their flagship sport given its popularity amongst Dream11 target audience.

The brand had two core objectives

  • Brand awareness: Creating awareness around the brand and its fantasy gaming platform amongst cricket lovers during the key cricketing season
  • Engage: Brand wanted to intrigue & engage with cricketing fans
