Every year, more than five million Germans develop depression. These numbers surged since the start of the pandemic, with suicide attempts among young people tripling,

Making the problem even more critical, the average wait for a therapy place in Germany now stands at an unbearable 22 weeks - a timeframe can turn a treatable condition into a life threatening one.

The German Depression League, the only national patient advocacy group, wanted to reduce the wait. So, we set out to call on German leaders to create more therapy places.
