In the 1920s, the Coca-Cola Company and its advertising agency, the D'Arcy Advertising Company in St. Louis, began searching for a depiction of Santa Claus that would complement a new slogan, "Thirst Knows No Season," Although Coca-Cola was everywhere people went—soda fountains, lunch counters, and gas stations—it was still a warm weather drink, and consumption declined sharply in cold winter months.
