Click fraud is done to make an ad campaign appear more effective. The fraudulent practice entails paying a few cents per hour to workers to sit at a computer all day and do nothing but click banners, thus making an ad campaign appear very successful. In addition, software can be created that automatically clicks ads and uses different IP addresses to simulate random users. These clicks have no value to advertisers.
