THE SAD STATISTICS EVERYONE SEES
On average, 1 in every 10 Romanians who ends up in a hospital needs blood transfusion. But the blood supply can only cover 66% of the need. No more than 17 people out of 1000 donate blood, leaving the country at the bottom of blood donation ranking in Europe, compared to 68 in Denmark, 55 in Germany or 42 in Hungary.
THE STATISTICS YOU DON’T SEE
There have been several national campaigns on blood donations. Each of them had as objective the increase of blood donors’ numbers. And they did. But most of the results didn’t last for more than one or two months. “How come!?”, you would wonder.
Blood donation campaigns only create a sense of urgency and crowd the same donors in a shorter period of time.
