BACKGROUND

The California Travel & Tourism Commission (CTTC) is “dedicated to persuading the travelling public to visit California by promoting the state's recreational, cultural, entertainment and scenic attractions with the goal of attracting visitors who would otherwise not visit California”.

Following a prolonged period of growth in the 1990s, the September 11th attacks hit visitor numbers hard during 2001. The next 6 years had seen a return to growth in visitor numbers.
