Bonus Bonds were launched in 1970 in New Zealand to encourage Kiwis to invest and save their earnings.

Bonus Bonds is unique in that the returns on the investment are not paid as interest, but rather placed in a prize pool and are distributed as prizes to those bondholders that are selected at random in the monthly prize draw.

Returns are tax paid, and the initial investment can be withdrawn at anytime without any form of penalty fee.
