BIC Brands: A Walmart DSP and The Trade Desk case study

This case study shows how BIC, the brand which specializes in pens, personal grooming products and lighters, was able to leverage Walmart’s abundance of first-party data to increase return on ad spend by more than 50%.

Over the course of the month of December 2021, BIC ran campaigns for its Soleil Click 5 women’s throw-away razor, Comfort 3 Hybrid men’s razor, and BodyMark, a temporary tattoo-marker. These ads were run on media channels outside of Walmart’s properties using the Walmart DSP.

BIC first looked at the products’ inventory in physical stores and gave its digital marketing team access to this information, something which they had not had previously. This was shared with the marketing team in order to run local ad campaigns directing shoppers to Walmart stores where the inventory was known to be high.
