The law surrounding the collection and processing of EU citizens’ information is changing. The General Data Protection Regulation increases compliance obligations around the collection and processing of personal data.

As such, it’s important for publishers to gain a solid understanding of the forthcoming regulation and how it will impact them, thus ensuring they are fully prepared for GDPR compliance.


General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR): The new rules are officially known as Regulation (EU) 2016/679 and replace the existing Data Protection Directive (Directive 95/46/EC). GDPR addresses when, how, and under what circumstances, personal data can be lawfully collected and used. It imposes a single standard for data protection across the European Union and it establishes conditions for how that personal data is collected and processed, and explicitly includes non EU-based entities in the scope of its legislation.
