It is hoped that this paper will encourage the marketplace to seek full transparency of this key aspect of audiometer validity. Procedures will be necessary for data editing. They need to be appropriate. Equally it is desirable that all interested parties discuss, and ideally agree upon, the arithmetical conventions used in the calculation of the Rating, as the basic unit within the currency of audience measurement.
