Susan G. Komen: Know Your Girls

Susan G Komen, the largest and best-funded breast cancer organisation in the United States, launched a campaign to encourage black women to learn about their risk of breast cancer, resulting in a significant increase in black women reporting that they are knowledgeable about breast health.

Summary

Black women in America are 40 percent more likely to die from breast cancer than white women. In communities across the U.S., black women are more likely to be diagnosed younger, at later stages and with more aggressive forms of the disease.

Our research illuminated our audience’s life philosophy and approach to health, allowing us to tap into the framework from which she operates her whole life.
