1. The New Marketing Manifesto

By John Grant

Published by Orion Business, 1999

This book remains as powerful as it was when it distilled some of the iconoclastic St Luke's thinking, as very few brands have adopted Grant's principles as fully as they should. Grant set out 12 principles for a new form of consumer-centric marketing. The book was written in a simple way, so any aspiring planner could understand how to 'mythologise the new' or 'create tangible differences in the experience'. Definitely worth a reread.

2. Open Minds

By Andy Law

We’re long-term subscribers to WARC and it’s a tool we use extensively. We use it to source case studies and best practice for the purposes of internal training, as well as for putting persuasive cases to clients. In compiling a recent case for long-term, sustained investment in brand, we were able to support key marketing principles with numerous case studies sourced from WARC. It helped bring what could have been a relatively dry deck to life with recognisable brand successes from across a broad number of categories. It’s incredibly efficient to have such a wealth of insight in one place.
