Adstats: Alcoholic drinks adspend
Total alcoholic drinks adspend amounted to US$6.1bn globally in 2013, according to data from Nielsen. This represents year-on-year growth of 3.8%, in line with the overall category global ad growth of 3.7%. Asia- Pacific accounted for the largest proportion of alcoholic beverage adspend on 39.1% (up 5.9%), while North America has recorded the fastest year-on-year growth at 7.9%. TV is the preferred channel, and saw a growth in adspend of 8.7% in 2013. Conversely, alcoholic drinks adspend on cinema and internet fell sharply last year, by -26.5% and -26% respectively. Turning specifically to the US market, Anheuser-Busch was the biggest spender in 2013 on US$580m, followed by SABMiller on US$432m.
