FoodForward SA launched #RepurposeTheSurplus on National Recycling Day to alert South Africans to the severity of food instability and raise awareness of FoodForward SA's role in the collection and redistribution of good, edible, and healthy food.

Executive Summary

The Challenge: In a country teetering on the edge of a food crisis, 10 million tons of quality, edible food is wasted annually. Our challenge was to educate the public about this surplus food, share the ways FoodForward SA (FFSA) can address food loss and insecurity through their innovative and inexpensive food banking solution, and achieve it with zero budget.

The Objective:Devise a powerful earned-media campaign that could alert South Africans to the severity of the food instability plaguing the country, while also leading the drive to implement and legislate a national Food Donations Policy....
