LVMH marketing spend exceeds pre-pandemic levels
LVMH's marketing and selling spend has exceeded pre-pandemic levels, according to the company's latest reports.
Why it matters
The coronavirus pandemic caused significant disruption to the luxury industry but one of the largest players has reached a new high. LVMH's revenue equalled €64.2bn in 2021, €10.5bn more than it earned in 2019.
While investing in marketing and advertising has become important for the company, with spend rising by 32.8% last year, its share of revenue has fallen to a low. Marketing as a share of revenue was at 34.7% in 2021, the lowest level since at least 2012.
