Global media inflation to reach 4% this year
Media costs have increased by 4.0% this year worldwide, a larger increase than initially expected, according to data from ECI Media Management. This compares to a 3.0% rise that was forecasted at the beginning of the year.
Why it matters
The pandemic caused widespread disruption to advertising spend and offline media prices aren't expected to fully recover until 2022, and only in some regions. On the other hand, online media has seen continued inflation and this looks set to continue, in part a result of shifting budgets to connected TV and retail media.
