Expedia Group's marketing spend returns to pre-pandemic levels
Expedia Group's marketing spend has tripled from the year before and is now at pre-pandemic levels, according to the latest company reports.
Why it matters
Travel was one of the hardest hit sectors when the COVID-19 pandemic began last year and this suggests things are now improving.
"With early positive signs in Q4 and many countries announcing new openings to international travelers, we are feeling increasingly confident about a continued recovery,” said Peter Kern, Vice Chairman and CEO, Expedia Group. "Superior performance from Vrbo", the company's holiday rentals platform, was also emphasised.
