Amazon GMV up 42%, nearing half a trillion dollars in 2020

The value of sales on Amazon reached nearly $500bn last year as third-party sellers drive growth for the e-commerce company, according to data from Marketplace Pulse.
Why it matters
Amazon is becoming the go-to platform for shoppers, and brands have found success selling their products on the site – third-party sales were worth about $300bn last year, growing far quicker than Amazon's first-party sales.
However, intense competition means it is vital that brands optimise their presence on the platform.
