Transformation is creative: Three trends to help CMOs regain influence

At Spikes Asia X Campaign, Wunderman Thompson's Justin Peyton outlines three trends for CMOs to note.

The average tenure of a CMO is just 41 months – the shortest of any in the C-suite – with fewer CMOs rising to the top because marketers are not seen to be as commercial as CEOs.

Justin Peyton, Wunderman Thompson's APAC chief transformation and strategy officer, made this point at the recent Spikes Asia X Campaign event, adding: “The question of how they rise and where they go to is also quite challenging. It isn’t a role where they have a short tenure, and they quickly rise to become CEO.”
