A history of inequality has cast a long shadow but this new environment, which encourages more serious discussion, has cultivated a society open to, if not eager for, change.

That is not to say we’re on a one-way road to equality. We must actively work to continue the progress we’re making. It’s true that the representation of gender, and the many debates surrounding it, has never been more present in public consciousness. But it has also never been more complicated.
