US, Out of home advertising expenditure by product category

An overview of out of home advertising expenditure by product category in the United States.

Miscellaneous Services and Amusements was the biggest out of home advertising category in the US in 2016, according to data from Kantar Media. Data are reported at rate card level and do not take into account any advertiser discounts. The category accounted for US$1,626.8m, an increase of 9.2% from the previous year. The next biggest spending category was Retail on US$802.3m (down 0.4% year-on-year), followed by Media and Advertising on US$658.3m (up 0.3%) and Restaurants on US$579.8m (up 4.7%).
