UK, Radio advertising expenditure by product category

Outlines UK radio advertising expenditure among the top 12 product categories over the last five years.

Motors was the biggest radio advertising category in the UK in 2016, according to data from Nielsen and the AA/Warc Expenditure Report. The product category’s total adspend - at rate-card level - amounted to £120.4m. This represents a 0.1% rise year-on-year from 2015, when adspend stood at £118m. In terms of adspend, the sector is some way ahead of the second placed category - retail, which generated £87.0m of advertising spend in 2016, a rise of 6.5% year-on-year.
