UK OOH impacts drop 89% but supermarkets stay relevant

An overview of out-of-home (OOH) impacts in the UK during the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

Supermarket exteriors have managed to retain relevancy in the UK out-of-home (OOH) market despite the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, according to data from Kinetic Journeys. Device traffic around supermarket inventory has dropped by one-half (56%) compared to the pre-outbreak level.

Social distancing queues outside supermarkets has likely helped inventory, while more frequent visits in early March meant impacts increased in this period. However, large and infrequent shopping trips appear to be the new normal and consumers are turning to e-commerce to minimise their risk of exposure to the virus.
