Two-thirds of people are concerned about smart speaker privacy

An overview of smart speaker privacy concerns among owners and non-owners in the United States.

Two-thirds of people are concerned about smart speaker privacy, according to the latest research from Voicebot.ai. Among owners and non-owners, 66.8% said they are concerned about device privacy, with 26% of respondents saying that they were 'very concerned'.

But these concerns do not appear to be stopping purchases. Among non-owners, Voicebot.ai reports that those 'very concerned' equals 27.7% and this remains above one-fifth (21.9%) for those who own a device. Indeed, smart speaker penetration has risen strongly in the past year, topping one-tenth in the US by September 2018.
