Cinema admissions in the US and Canada dipped by 6.1% to 1.24 billion in 2017, the lowest in over nine years, according to data from the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA).
When considering ticket sales by age group, data show that those aged 25-39 accounted for 26% of all cinema visit in the region last year, as did the 40-59 cohort. Consequently, North Americans aged between 25 and 59 accounted for over half of all admissions.
