Misusing personal data is the leading cause of public distrust in the tech industry, according to the latest research from Dentsu Aegis Network. Across 24 countries, nearly two-thirds said the misuse of their data is a main cause for not trusting the tech industry. In response, over three-quarters of people have tried to limit their online footprint.

This is far above second-place, where automation/not creating enough jobs and pursuing innovation for its own sake were tied, at 26%. In last place, only 16% of respondents said they believed workforce diversity and not paying enough tax were...
