Digital publishers see long-term growth in audiences

An overview of digital publishers' audience in 2019 and 2020 and areas of strategic importance.

Digital publishers in the UK and US have seen a long-term gain in the size of their app audiences this year, according to data from digital publishing platform Pugpig. The analysis includes more than 300 clients of Pugpig, which include publishers like News Corp, Condé Nast and The Economist.

Compared to August 2019, the number of monthly app users for daily news brands had risen by four-fifths at the start of the coronavirus outbreak (+79% in April) and has managed to maintain this higher level throughout the summer. Monthly app users were up 74% by November.
