AVOD growing quicker than SVOD in Europe

An overview of growth in different video-on-demand services in France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK during the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

Across five major European countries, consumption on AVOD services has increased by over one-quarter (29%) between January and June 2020. In comparison, time spent watching subscription services (SVOD) has increased half as quickly, up 13%.

As a result, AVOD is now as popular as SVOD across EU5 countries. Consumers spent one hour and 22 minutes watching AVOD content per day in June, one minute more than SVOD content.
