Automobiles were the biggest spending online display advertisers in Australia in 2016, according to data from the Internet Advertising Bureau (IAB). The product category’s total adspend amounted to A$470m, representing a 31.3% rise year on year from 2015, when adspend stood at A$359m. The sector was still significantly ahead of the second placed category, real estate, which generated A$371m of advertising spend in 2016, a rise of 45.3% year-on-year.
