Over 700m people use Instagram and/or WhatsApp each day but do not use Facebook or Messenger daily, according to the latest company reports. The growth rate of this userbase, up 5.1% quarter-on-quarter in Q3 2020, consistently exceeds the growth rate of Facebook users.
This shows the shifting importance of the different platforms within the company, as Facebook loses popularity among younger audiences who prefer more visual and entertaining alternatives like Instagram.
