400m Facebook accounts are worthless to advertisers

The number of duplicate and fake accounts on the Facebook and Messenger platforms has reached 400 million, according to the latest company reports. This is equivalent to 16% of the 2.5 billion monthly active users registered at the end of 2019.

This share of the monthly user count that are duplicate or fake accounts has remained stable, also equalling 16% in 2018. However, this share is up from 13.5% in 2017 and 7% in 2016.
