Social dominates online time in Australia

An overview of online media consumption in Australia between 2012 and 2018.

Australians now spend the majority of their online time on social media, according to the latest data from GlobalWebIndex. This year, internet users (aged 16-64) registered a daily average consumption of one hour and 31 minutes, five minutes higher than all 'other' activity. Music streaming was the third most popular activity, at 0:47 (hours:minutes). Online TV/streaming followed closely behind at 0:46 while online press clocked in at 31 minutes.
