North America saw the largest increase in online grocery shopping from 2019 to 2020, according to data from target audience company GWI.
The region saw the proportion of internet users shopping for groceries online rise from 22% to almost one-third (31%). This is equivalent to an increase of 41% from Q4 2019 to Q4 2020. Further research shows that US consumers are also ordering groceries online more often and spending more per order.
