UK newsbrands' print ad revenue has halved since 2011

An overview of UK newspaper advertising expenditure by publication type between 2011 and 2019.

Print newspaper advertising expenditure in the UK has more than halved over the past eight years, according to the latest data from the Advertising Association/WARC Expenditure Report, which has surveyed the UK's press each quarter since 1982.

Full-year estimates based on the latest verified data (Q3 2018) show national print newspaper adspend will have fallen 53.7% between 2011 and 2018 to £699m, while this drop was larger at 59.5% to £585m for regional print news. This is despite nine out of ten UK adults being reached by newsbrands each month.
