Pinterest enters top five in Canada as Facebook penetration bounces back

Facebook penetration in Canada has returned to growth, according to the latest data from YouGov and the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism. Nearly 70% of internet users (69.7%) have used the platform in the past week, up 2.6 percentage points (pp) from last year and a return to 2016 levels.

Facebook Messenger has seen the greatest year-on-year increase, rising 5.3pp to just under one-half (48.8%). YouTube and Instagram are also growing strongly and may soon top two-thirds and one-third respectively.
