Advertising expenditure in the Middle East was valued at US$ 17.9bn in 2016, according to data from WARC. This represents a year-on-year drop of 11.2% from 2015, when total spend amounted to US$ 20.2bn. Data show the Middle East registered consistent year-on-year growth in advertising spend between 2007 and 2014, but has dipped in the last two years. However, care should be taken when comparing year-on-year totals in dollar terms, as the results will be affected by fluctuations in the exchange rate.
